Aerospacelab has launched the construction of its Megafactory, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance Europe’s space manufacturing capabilities. This ambitious project, set to be operational by 2026, positions Charleroi as a hub of innovation and industrial revitalization, contributing to the region’s economic and technological growth.
To ensure the solidity and durability of this infrastructure, Franki Foundations was entrusted by BESIX with the custom-made foundations. Our teams installed nearly 550 bored piles, totaling 6 km in depth, using the Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piling technique, with diameters ranging from 350 to 500 mm.
To meet the project’s specific requirements, some piles were inclined, a technical solution ensuring optimal structural stability.
This construction site stands out for its fast-paced schedule and high level of technical requirements. Precise coordination was crucial to meeting deadlines. Thanks to close collaboration with Aerospacelab and Besix-Galère, the work was carefully phased, allowing key areas to be cleared on time and ensuring a smooth project progression.
With this project, Franki Foundations once again demonstrates its expertise in deep foundations and its ability to support large-scale projects. More than just a construction site, this Megafactory represents a major step forward for the European space sector and a growth driver for the Belgian industry.
We are proud to have laid the foundations of this exceptional infrastructure, paving the way for innovation and space exploration.
